The season of White Dew is a time of traditions and transitions. This is the season in which the long, warm days of summer truly seem to come to an end, and the cooler days of autumn arrive. Indeed, the season “White Dew” takes its name from the dew that catches the morning light: short-lived beauty that evaporates as the day goes on. Like the dew, we must live in the here-and-now - and the coming autumn reminds us that life doesn’t wait! With the harvest season approaching, so too does a sense of busy-ness - no more are the lazy days of summer vacation, it’s time to go back to school and work. While the weather is still mostly pleasant and mild, this is a season for moon viewing, harvesting in the vegetable patch, and gathering mushrooms. As our gardens begin to golden, the swallows begin to sing their songs of early autumn.
